Harrison Krix made a Force a’ Nature from the popular game, Team Fortress 2.
After the release of more powerful browsers, and the new HTML5, online games are becoming ever more popular, with reasonable 'graphics' and enjoyable game play. HTML will allow the ability for apps to store data on your systems for designers to embed video onto a page.

It has even been said that A game coded for HTML5 could run on any tablet, mobile phone or browser without any extra software with the so called 'canvas' element, which enables dynamic 3D graphics. HTML5 is believed to be a big leap forward and possible meaning an end to adobe flash. There will be no installations, no plugins, or downloads! Although HTML5 and JavaScript will not have the power to handle really high spec games in a little tab on you're browser, there are still a huge number of games already out there on the web. Although this browser gaming does sound a bit too good to be true, flash will not be leaving just yet, as the need to programmers, designers and tools are needed to start seeing these browser games, which I can see being a very popular thing for possibly those crafty office workers!

All we can do is look forward to what there may be in the pipe line... HTML5 is still fairly new, but there will be some incredible games.
Here are some HTML5 games you may wish to try.

We are one or two weeks away from starting our weekly 'Fun Nights'. This will be on our Team Fortress 2 server, where by all the madness from the normal 24/7 Payload, will become even crazier! In the Fun Night time span, new mods, new maps, relaxed rules and community participation will mean one hell of a time.

We plan to run these Fun Nights on Fridays, and/or Saturdays either all day, or starting from a set time, until midnight! I do not want to mention any of the mods I have been looking at so far, but we are going to be starting off with just one mod, and as the 'event' grows, more choices of mods and maps will be added, and YOU, the community will be able to vote for the follow weeks Fun Night mod.

The best way to stay up to date, and not miss out will be to join our Steam Group to receive Event Notifications. We want to make this as enjoyable as possible for the community, and want to try a do similar things for our Condition Zero server in the future for anyone who wishes to join in
I have set up a shoutcast server with 250 Listener slots with room to expand, and the ability to stream as whatever bandwidth I can, or wish to. (192kb/s)
To tune in you can either click the link at the top of the site (top left) which will open a popup player, or open the same page in a new browser window by going to: http://cgamer.co.uk/fmpop/index.php
You can also visit http://109.169.60.171:8000/ temporarily until I finish setting up the stats script and finalising the Staff panel so our DJ's can answer your requests!

R4 emulator DS carts officially banned in UK

Nintendo is continuing is ground pound on bootleggers, this time with a win in court against the R4 emulator cartridge.

According to Brit pub Develop, “As of today the popular R4 cards – which are used by thousands in the UK to pirate DS games – are no longer legal to import, advertise and sell anywhere in the UK.” A British high court decided against defendant Playables Limited (UK-based toy company) and its owner, Wai Dat Chan, and determined that it is “illegal for the R4 card to circumvent Nintendo’s security systems in order to play content on the DS.”

The R4 cart (also known as “R4: The revolution for the DS” or the R4DS) is a DS-shaped cart that uses a micro-SD card and fits the DS cart slot. It utilizes software that runs downloaded applications on the DS handheld system, often promising the ability to play game ROMs. The R4 can cost anywhere from $5 to $25, depending on the site selling it and the bundle (many come with a Flash drive with pre-loaded software). The software and micro-SD memory card allows several applications - including qames - to be stored on and launched from a single card. There are many clones of the original R4 design which often used the same name.

The R4 cart was banned from sale in Japan in February 2009 and retailers were recently convicted of illegally selling R4 cards in the Netherlands.

The only downside is that homebrew developers rely on the R4 to allow their games to be payed so this type of finding puts a major crimp in their distribution.

I personally have a flash cart, called the Cyclo DS Evolution. I feel sorry for home brew developers now, as how long will it be before the rest of the companies stop producing? In my opinion you can get some home brew games, which are in fact better than an official game of the same type! Some of the applications are also great, and have come in handy on holidays, where you do not tend to take computers etc, where I can find a wifi hotspot, connect for a few minutes, and get any emails or other social network updates!

It just seems to get worse and worse for Microsoft's upcoming motion-sensing camera Kinect.

Following on from reports suggesting that you'll need to stand up in order to use the device, and the revelation that significant space will be required for the camera to see you, it now appears that you - or your mum, at least - is going to have to dress a certain way if they want to 'jump in' with Kinect.
According to a report on TechRadar, a woman attempting to play Kinect Sports while dressed in a long skirt simply couldn't due to the device not being able to "see enough of her legs".

"Although, hilariously, we saw one woman who's (sic) long skirt prevented her from playing the track racing game on the device because it couldn't see enough of her legs," reads the report.

"Evidently you'll have to dress suitably to play Kinect."
Oh dear.

Considering Kinect's casual-friendly focus, this seems to be another blow for the device which has already been scrutinised by much of the industry for its apparent shortcomings.

Kinect launches on Xbox 360 this November. Don't bring a skirt.

Quote:Alien Swarm is a game and Source SDK release from a group of talented designers at Valve who were hired from the Mod community. Available free of charge, the game thrusts players into an epic bug hunt featuring a unique blend of co-op play and squad-level tactics. With your friends, form a squad of four distinct IAF Marine classes.

Due for release on 19th July 2010 will be available free of charge, where you will be in an environment fighting off alien creatures with a co-op mode, multi player mode and single player. You form a squad of four IAF Marine classes. Looking at the two trailers for this game, it is very action packed, great for playing with friends, and made for hours of fun collecting 64 achievements, unlocking new weapons and new configurations to defeat the aliens. Alien Swarm will have you playing in a 3rd person camera view, with the ability to set depth of field, with the ability to set improved dynamic shadow and more with lots of new additions to the source engine that powers it.

System Requirements

Minimum:

OS: Windows® 7 / Vista / Vista64 / XP
Processor: Pentium 4 3.0GHz
Memory: 1 GB for XP / 2GB for Vista
Graphics: DirectX 9 compatible video card with 128 MB, Shader model 2.0. ATI X800, NVidia 6600 or better
Hard Drive: At least 2.5 GB of free space
Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

Recommended:

OS: Windows® 7 / Vista / Vista64 / XP
Processor: Intel core 2 duo 2.4GHz
Memory: 1 GB for XP / 2GB for Vista
Graphics: DirectX 9 compatible video card with Shader model 3.0. NVidia 7600, ATI X1600 or better
Hard Drive: At least 2.5 GB of free space
Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

I personally cannot wait for this game. You cannot turn your nose up at free games. Although I can see it being a bit like L4D or Killing Floor just fending off fugly looking creatures, atleast it may provide a few days of fun, and it wont cost any money, WAAHAAAYYY.

Check out http://store.steampowered.com/app/630/ for more screenshots and to view the two trailers.

One thing about this game however.. Its a 2.5 GB download.. Its free.. The servers are going to DIE! Plus the frustration as your game downloads at a snails pace. Shame about no Pre-Loading or anything, I guess its too late now though.

Leading up to this update was a huge amount of teasing, clues, images and information which gave everyone an idea something was coming. The past few days there has been the 'Wrench Log' where the, what I believe to be, a very poor drop system and others may agree, dropping golden wrenches. However only 100. Anyway I will stop complaining about very rarely getting TF2 drops, or hats.

This update has said to have been the biggest yet, bringing a huge number of new weapons for the engineer arsenal, new maps, engine updates and item tuning. Here is the update in list form.

Team Fortress 2 - Engineer Update

Added The Frontier Justice.

Added The Wrangler.

Added The Gunslinger.

Added The Southern Hospitality.

Added 35 Engineer achievements.

Engineers can now pickup & move their buildings.

Added Engineer main menu music.

Added 4 new maps:

Thunder Mountain, a 3 stage Payload map.

Hightower, a Payload Race map.

Upward, a Payload map.

ColdFront, a community built Capture Point map.

Item tuning

The Sandvich now uses a cooldown timer, instead of the health pack recharge mechanic.

The Gunboats now reduce self-damage by 60%. (was 75%)

The Tribalman's Shiv bleed duration reduced to 6 second (was 8), and its damage penalty increased to 50% (was 35%).

Added better feedback sound for Pyros on when their flamethrower is doing damage.

Fixed blood effect on bleeding player.

Added a glow effect to Payload carts.

Added Romanian language support

Engine

Fixed client crash related flashlight usage.

Fixed several issues related to alt-tabbing. (invisible players, etc)

I have been on a few servers this morning, however as usual every bloody server you join the new class that's had an update is full, I have already seen loads of players running around with these new items and placing new mini sentries. I have never been a huge fan of playing as engineer, but I will give it a bash to get them achievements! Here are some pictures.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIP members get another bonus in the form of a free map pack. This will be the 4th to be offered since its launch back in early March. Note, the VIP requirement is for Xbox 360 and PS3 players. All PC players will get it for free by way of a patch later today.

The map pack consists of two existing maps, Atacama Desert (Rush mode) and Port Valdez (Conquest mode), that have been adjusted to fit the play modes they are being added to.
BREAKING NEWS: TF2 Engineer update is real

Valve have just put up the micro-site for the TF2 Engineer update. We’re updating this in real time as the first details of the Engineer update unfolds. Yee-haw.

21.33: So – we’ve got two pages. The first is the single TF2 Engineer update page here, which seems to be a group of cartoons and newspaper clippings. The second is a live counter, the wrenchlog – it’s showing that 24 players have got the wrenches. We’re going to assume, for now, that each of those players has crafted a golden wrench.

A sentry with wheels!

21.47: This here sentry has wheels on it. Is the engie getting a moving sentry, or are Valve just cruel jokesters? Probably both.

A newspaper about Australia!

21.57: This is an android drawn in the style of the Vitruvian Man. No idea how to craft the wrench yet, but I’m friend-spamming the 24 people who do know like the shameless tart I was raised to be.

22.22: It strikes me that some of this is just silly. There are an unhealthy volume of Lincoln references – a diagram of him standing on a teleporter, a revolving floor-chair, a wanted poster for his murderer, and there’s even a Lincoln gun hat. Or a Lincoln hat gun, even. More important is the wrench, I think – I’d love to know how to craft the golden wrench.

Here’s the story so far for the wrenches according to the TF2 wiki:

“On the night of July 4th, 2010, sixteen accounted for players received the Golden Wrench after a drop was triggered by Robin. The following is the process of events according to Nineaxis, TF2 Wiki moderator and contributor.
According to him, he queried Robin Walker about whether or not the wrench was a preorder reward for another game, which it is not. Robin then invited him to play, promising more answers. After playing, Robin told him the code had a bug. A while later, Robin invited him to a server, supposedly having fixed the bug mentioned before, and proceeded to trigger the drops, mentioning that they do not drop randomly after Nineaxis asked. Shortly after, Robin left and halted any further drops, to presumably fix a bug that affected the wrenches which had been dropped.
On July 5th, 2010, it was revealed that there is a possible limit of 100 wrenches to be dropped over the next few days. According to the page, it can be presumed that it is only found when crafting something.”

I have just received a package where by I can now support clans, groups or teams by providing them with free web hosting. This is not the horrible sign up free web hosting that you get. Your site will have a real control panel (cpanel) with lots of features enabled with the ability to either keep the sub domain you are given, or add on your own.

This post still needs to be updated as I am still setting up the packages for quick setup. Then I need to create an application form, an area for clients to get hosting support and a few other things

The package has now changed, plus I have introduced new packages + Information and put it in a comparison table which can be found here: http://cgamer.co.uk/forums/hosting.php

<del>Package Details:

Sub Domain: example.cgamer.co.uk
Disk Quota: 280 MB
Bandwidth: 3500 MB
FTP Accounts: Unlimited
Email Accounts: Unlimited
Databases: Unlimited
Parked Domains: Unlimited
Addon Domains: Unlimited</del>

<del>What I can say now is that I will be expecting in return for there to be a reasonable activity on these forums here at cGamer, by the application submitter, and your clan, group or team mates. So get them to sign up and get posting. We also encourage you to add cG' to the front of your tags if you have one.

The disk space and bandwidth you receive will be ample for your needs.</del>
